Lauren Conroy Violin Teacher



Violinist Lauren is a recent graduate of the The Juilliard School where she completed her Masters of Music degree studying with Donald Weilerstein and Li Lin. She is currently attending NYU Gallatin School’s MA Program as a Koppenaal Scholar with a concentration in Cultural Analysis in the Arts. Lauren performs solo and ensemble works spanning traditional to modern repertoire and has been invited to several festivals and residencies including Bowdoin International Music Festival Fellowship, The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Avaloch Farm Music Institute, Fontainebleau, and Madeline Island Chamber Music Dorothy Richard Starling Fellowship. She has extensive chamber experience under the tutelage of Pacifica, Brooklyn Rider, Borromeo, Arianna, and Jupiter String Quartets and has performed on renowned stages such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Chicago’s Symphony Center, and Beijing’s National Grand Theatre.

Lauren has co-produced and performed on several multi-disciplinary projects including Juilliard’s Beyond the Machine and NYC Ballet’s Choreographic Institute. Interested in the intersection of acoustic sound and live processing, she performs her own and others works with electronics and interactive technology such as Ableton Live and MaxMsp. Passionate about relating music to social issues, she is a founding member of The Glass Clouds Ensemble whose mission is to amplify the message of New York area climate leaders through the commission, performance, and promotion of new music. The ensemble’s previous season included commissioned works based on ensemble-led interviews with climate activists Jeffrey Sachs, former Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute, and Monica Ibacache, co- founder and CEO of Beyond Organic Design. Lauren’s solo project Sight|Movement|Sound explores the combination of music, dance, and visual art through the performance of contemporary solo violin works in art galleries and was most recently presented at the James Cohan Gallery in Tribeca. An avid performer of new music, she has played in several world premiers.

Lauren previously attended Indiana University studying with Simin Ganatra and graduated with High Distinction from the Hutton Honors College and Jacobs School of Music with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance. She also completed a minor in Political and Civic Engagement (PACE) and a certificate in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship.
