Namisa
Cello
Hello! My name is Namisa, and I am a cellist.
I grew up in Beijing, China and have been surrounded by music since I was a wee babe – my mother and grandfather are both cellists, so the cello has always been synonymous with home. I started performing internationally at 13 and have since explored a wide range of music and performance, from playing solo cello in concert halls to winning Gold and Silver in international competitions, and eventually branching out into acting and singing.
I’m currently pursuing my Master’s at The Juilliard School, after completing my Bachelor’s there
in 2023. Along the way, I’ve had the chance to study under world-renowned cellists and cello
professors such as Richard Aaron, Zvi Plesser and Zlatomir Fung, as well as masterclasses with
Frans Helmerson, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt and Claudio Bohórquez.
I’ve come to find the cello an incredibly versatile instrument, and I’m interested in exploring all facets of technique and expressivity that will help students build solid fundamental skills, and to offer all the tools I use in my own practice to help students find what works best!
